Welcome to the NCSA Mosaic Home Page for Macintosh.

Due to the TREMENDOUS load being handled by the NCSA WWW server there may be times that you are unable to get the NCSA Mosaic Home Page when you first start Mosaic. This in no way should effect your ability to retrieve documents from other sites. To solve this problem you may want to try creating your own home page and set Mosaic to automatically load it in the Preferences Dialog.

Maintenance Upgrade

The current version of NCSA Mosaic for Macintosh is 1.0.3 (1.0.3 - Released Thursday, 27 January, 1994).

If you are running B6 or higher press

to upgrade to 1.0.3. WARNING! The NCSA ftp server is being overloaded with requests for the Mosaic software. Because of this, you may get the error message "cannot access document". Please wait a while and try the transfer again when the server may not be as busy.

PLEASE READ

There are many documents out on the net that "require" 2.0 Mosaic. This is typically due to the use of the FORMS feature available in NCSA Mosaic for X 2.0. As a result FORMS are a high priority for the Macintosh group. Work will begin on 2.0 after the release of 1.0.3. Thank you for your patience.

The 1.0.3 version of NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh is NOW available.
Help Items are found in the Balloon Help Menu.
There is a still a time-out problem with QuickTime for some users. The development team is working on this problem.
We are starting a FIREWALL mailing group to try to come up with solutions to the problems connected to breaking through the firewall. To join email the developers and put FIREWALL in the subject line.
